breaking the silence…

so… i’m here to attack updating the much-neglected blog…. hopefully i’ll include enough amazing stories and pictures and links that you’ll forgive the absence. ha. truth be told, we’ve just been really busy! but here we go…

lets start at the very beginning, a very good place to start… (name that tune

the weekend of may 15-17 we were able to go to grove city, pa to see catherine, nick’s sister graduate from college! we were able to see the graduation on saturday morning which was great and nick and i were finally able to meet john, catherine’s boyfriend (nick talked about this alot leading up to the weekend… he had to approve this guy…). then we went out to a really nice lunch and hit the outlets! nick’s parents were so gracious and generous and hooked up nick and i with some awesome new clothes! gotta love it. we enjoyed the rest of the evening before heading to sleep early. we left at 5 in order to get back to princeton in time for me to go to work at 12:30. good times! here are some pics…

SO. we arrived back in princeton on sunday, monday night we ordered pizza, watched the west wing (we’re into season 2!), and packed because tuesday after work, we headed to winston for kelly and tyler’s wedding! my schedule was insano, but it was still so good to be with nick’s family and be in the city we love for an extended period of time…

wednesday was a day of planning and trying to see some people! i had to go get some random things and do some planning for the week, but it was a great start to the week.

the main event of thursday was a special night planned for the bride. linds, sal, kel, and i have been extremely close since our summers in the dominican so we wanted to do something awesome for kel. we went to 6th and vine for dinner and then headed back to kelly’s house where we set up some fun stations for her to experience. i cant give away all the secrets but it did include some korean rice cakes, oprah magazines, ring pops, blue eye shadow, and of course some worshipping together. it was beautiful. see fotos below.

on to friday which included getting manicures and pedicures! always good. then my family arrived and we grabbed some hero house before heading back to the nielsens to watch the magic beat the cavs in game 1. it was awesome.

saturday the craziness really began (as if it hadn’t already…). we had the bridesmaids luncheon in the morning which was beautiful in so many ways. sweet kel honored all of the women there and there were ALOT of tears shed 🙂 but so much love was shared and it was great to officially get the wedding fun started! then we had the rehearsal up at rosa lee manor and the rehearsal dinner at 4th street filling station. it was so great to reconnect with so many of my friend from fsu…

aaaaaaaaand finally. on to sunday. i went over the kel’s at 7:30am to get some flowers for the table arrangements! we had a great time with kelly’s mom and aunt putting them all together and it was a great distraction from the overcast day… we headed up to rosa lee manor that afternoon and i treasured the last few quiet moments i could have with my sweet sister before we got there. thankfully the rain stopped just enough for us to take pictures and have the ceremony outside. it was so perfect. the mountains. the bride and groom. the little rain that did shower us while we were worshipping during the wedding. i dont know about kel, but i wouldn’t have changed a thing. i was honored to be her matron of honor! and i am so grateful for the time i was able to spent with kelly and tyler, nick’s family, my family, and all of our other friends in winston (including my awesome 6th grade girls!).

One more week

So,  nothing too much to report from Princeton.  Like Sarah posted, we had a great, but very quick trip to Winston last weekend.   Our week back here has been uneventful, except I am now one week away from being completely done with my first year of school!  The class that I’m in now has been a great practical way to finish up the semester, and a considerably lighter workload than some of the other classes I’ve had here.  I’m also working a lot at the library since the school work hasn’t been so demanding.

We also just finished watching the Magic beat up on the Celtics which was fun.  It was nice to see JJ get some good playing time.  I kept telling Sarah that he’s the key to their success.

We have a hopefully pretty relaxing weekend now but are really looking forward to Catherine’s graduation next weekend and then our longer trip to Winston-Salem!

getting to the dash.

so… the surprise that i’ve been waiting and waiting for was driving to winston-salem this weekend to see my girls get confirmed. confirmation is a huge deal at first pres, and so i wanted to make sure that i was there to get to see these awesome girls finally finish this four month long process. i will post a seperate post on that… but first i just wanted to explain the intensity of us getting there… we arrived in winston friday night at 11:15pm (due largely to some video footage you will see below), and we left this morning at 4am because i had to work at 2:30pm. good times, but totally worth it.

soo…. the first step, was getting there. our 8 and a half hour trip turned into and 11 and a half hour trip because of a terrible accident on I-81. i decided the best thing to do was document it. you can let me know later if this was a good idea or bad idea…

so. then we made it. i will now add another post about our time in winston. more fun to come!
